Tyndale House Publishers is one of the largest independently owned Christian publishers in the world. Located in Carol Stream, Illinois, Tyndale was founded in 1962.

Background

• Tyndale runs JD Edwards 9.2. The company started on JDE in 2016 and upgraded from 9.1 in 2020.
• 8 Purge-it! modules in use; AP, AR, GL, INV, PUR, SAL, Custom Module and Custom Module Extension Pack.

Challenges

The quantity of data in the JD Edwards system was growing and performance was starting to decline. No data archiving had been performed prior to using Purge-it!

Selecting the right JDE archiving tool

Progressing with data archiving

Tackling the data in all JDE modules

Tyndale uses the standard Purge-it! archiving setups for its main JDE modules; Sales Orders, Procurement, Inventory, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and GL.

The Purge-it! Custom Module allows Tyndale to create its own archiving routines for suggestions, shipments, sales ledger and EDI.

No SQL needed

Getting started

Tyndale’s business as a publisher is broader than you might expect.  The company works across manufacturing, sales, warehouse distribution and financials, accumulating data in JDE from each area of the business.

Tyndale knew data was growing faster in certain tables than others.  They’d noticed some reports were taking longer to run and some application queries were slow.

To discover exactly how much benefit data archiving with Purge-it! could bring to the business, Tyndale decided to begin its archiving project with the distribution data. This included sales and warehousing which represents the largest data set, and also provided an opportunity for Tyndale to find out whether its existing processes were working efficiently, and if significant performance improvements could be found.
